FAQ
Do I need the original Marriage Certificate?
No, I don't. A photo of your Marriage Certificate is enough, clearly showing all the data. We can also help you restore data from the Civil Registry of Georgia if the certificate is lost or damaged. For this, we only need the passport data of the husband and wife.
How long does the divorce procedure take?
The consideration of the administrative divorce case itself takes 6 working days. The total time depends on how long it takes to prepare the documents and the final translation/certification/legalization.
What document is issued after the divorce?
A state-issued Divorce certificate in Georgian, in two copies - for each spouse, indicating the name. We can then translate your Divorce Certificate into another language and apostille/legalize it at the consulate.
Can I be present at the divorce procedure?
Yes, you can be present in person both at the filing of the application and at the receipt of the completed divorce certificate. A power of attorney for filing an application and receiving a completed Divorce Certificate, issued by the absent spouse in a notarized form in the name of the present spouse of our company's representative, is required.
Can I keep my spouse's surname / return to the surname before marriage?
Any option is possible. The desired surname after the divorce must be indicated in the application for divorce, and then in the Divorce Certificate.
What should I do if the original Marriage Certificate is lost?
Send us copies of your passports, and we will restore your marriage registration record in the Georgian Registry.
What should I do if I have changed my passport?
Can you dissolve a marriage concluded in Georgia using a new identity document? For example, in the case of a new foreign passport or a change of citizenship?
Yes, we can. The main thing is that the document is valid at the time of filing the application and issuing the divorce decision.
